Say farewell to the ideal man of the past. This is unless said man is an altered super soldier who looks killer in uniform, was frozen for 70 years, and bleeds patriotism. OK, so maybe this guy doesn’t exactly exist, but the actor who plays this guy sure does. Yes, I am indeed talking about Chris Evans who is also a dork, a meatball, and probably a giant Dorito.
Come on. Get a look at this guy. He is perfection in a 6’ frame. With the superhero physique, the stunning smile, the piercing blue eyes, and the contagious laughter complete with the left boob grab, I feel confident in declaring Mr. Evans to be the complete package. Not to mention Chris can sing, dance, act, and now direct.
In all honesty, I’ve been sitting here for a solid twenty minutes trying to figure out what to focus on, where to begin. I could talk about one of his movies. I could post a bunch of gifs and gawk in the glory that is Chris Evans. I could even just sit here and cry for the next hour thinking about how he was in Atlanta filming, and I wasn’t able to go stalk find him. The possibilities are endless and in the future Chris Evans Editions I’ll probably cover all of those options.
Today when I think of Chris though I don’t necessarily want to cry or mention how he should be illegal. I don’t even particularly find myself thinking about the time I made my pug watch The Avengers with me, and how Pugsley kept freaking out every time Chris was on screen. I’m at a crossroads right now of should I buy his new movie and watch it or should I wait for it to come out in theaters. (The film had a digital release before it hits theaters in a few months.)
I heard last month about a movie called Before We Go that had aired at the Toronto Film Festival last year. I came to find out that not only is Chris starring in this film alongside the talented Alice Eve, but also Before We Go is Chris’ directorial debut. He’s been talking for quite some time about directing, and I’m truly enraptured by the leap he finally made to cash in his chips on this film.
The trailer for the film came out on Tuesday, and from my several views of the trailer and a few interviews, here’s what I can tell you about it. This is an enchanting, romantic tale about two strangers who find themselves falling in love over the course of a shared sleepless night in New York City.
After an encounter with a mugger, Brooke (Alice Eve) misses her train and falls under the attention of Nick (Chris Evans). Once the two become more comfortable with another, they find they have a lot more in common then they initially thought. The night progresses, and the two have a life changing epic adventure in the process. However, the need for important decisions to be made looms in the background as the night comes to a close and the morning trains begin their cycle.
From the trailer alone, it’s nearly impossible to miss the on screen chemistry of Eve and Evans. They’ll truly have you believing that these characters were meant to cross paths. After all, maybe just maybe some people are put into your life for a reason. For Nick and Brooke, I’m not entirely sure what that is yet, but I have my suspicions.
There’s a scene from the trailer where Brooke tells Nick that all they need is a time machine, and he asks her what she would tell herself if there was one. That’s one of the more angsty questions someone can ponder, because if you could change something then you never had that experience. If you’ve never had that experience then there’s a high probability that you wouldn’t be who you are. For Brooke she wouldn’t have met Nick, and Nick is probably going to help her see the world and love in a whole new light.
Before We Go looks like it is going to be a fantastic film, and I’m so proud of Chris and all the actors in the film for that matter. As much as I am tempted to give in and buy the movie before I get the chance to see it in theaters, I think I’m going to wait. Instead I just bought 2 other movies that he’s in. I’ve seen both of them a million times, but it’ll be nice to simply pop them into the DVD player now. For the time being, I’m going to watch the trailer for Before We Go a million more times, and probably talk myself into the buying it…
Fun Fact: Chris learned all the fingering for the trumpet parts in the film, so they'd match the music!
